Rock Hill, SC

Rock Hill was born from the railroad, thrived in the innovative teens and twenties, boomed in post-war textiles, and was crippled when the mills shut down. It was only with great collaborative leadership that Rock Hill rallied to become a well-stewarded, successful community, excelling as a suburb economy to Charlotte, NC – one of our nation’s great thriving cities.

Today, change is once again at Rock Hill’s doorstep. And once again, Rock Hill is ready. At the center of this new success, is Knowledge Park – an area that stretches from Winthrop University through the textile corridor and to the southern tip of the revitalizing downtown. University Center is at the core of Knowledge Park both physically and symbolically, serving as the critical link between the university and the walkable urban district.

The Vision

Sidewalk/Rock Hill, LLC is producing a Bold New Vision for a long-vacant textile factory adjacent to the beautiful campus of Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Located just 20 minutes south of Charlotte, this development team is creating a community that will change the city forever - a project being born of a new economy! The project fosters the quest for Lifelong Learning for all generations, and offers those who want to be a part of innovative technologies a great walkable environment to live, learn, and play.

Known as University Center, this new development stretches from the southern tip of the revitalizing downtown through the textile corridor to Winthrop University - offering a factory of ideas and innovation.
